One two-month voyage circling the Land Down Under was terminated following the tragic passing of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a distant island.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with shipmates from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the party for a break. The ship sailed away leaving her and came back after some time after the personnel discovered the passenger was not present.

A major hunt discovered her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the tragedy, in coordination with police and the state coroner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer said that guests and staff on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and previous technical problems".

Through an announcement, he further stated that passengers would be given a total repayment, and said the company was working "to organize the return journeys of the travelers via chartered flights".

Officials also released an latest communication, and said they had "delivered a order to the Master" banning any additional guests from getting on the vessel.

The official said that they would inspect the liner in the Australian city upon its arrival.

In her statement, she characterized her mum as an "energetic octogenarian" who was a participant of a hiking group.

"From the little facts we have been provided, it seems that there was a lapse of attention and common sense," she mentioned.

She continued that she wished the investigation would be able to determine what "the operator should have performed that might have preserved Mother's life".

"We understand from the police that it was a very hot afternoon, and mum fell ill on the mountain ascent," she explained.

"Officials suggested her to return, unescorted. Then the vessel left, seemingly without performing a roll call.

"During some point in that process, or shortly after, mum died, without company."

Company Response

In a statement, the Head affirmed that the operator was "cooperating fully with investigators to aid their inquiry".
