Approximately 25,000 households in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, bringing strong winds reaching 109km/h.

Meanwhile, nearly one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations handled 598 emergency reports across the region, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

During the peak on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Climate Outlook
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along large portions of eastern Queensland this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both regions.
Safety Concern
Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
